ABOUT
Cuban-born and New York–based vocalist, pianist, and songwriter Gina D’Soto (Regina Soto Sirgado, Havana, 1997) has quickly become one of the most authentic and versatile new voices at the intersection of R&B, Latin rhythms, pop, and Cuban traditions. With a voice that is both sensual and commanding, her music carries an emotional weight that draws audiences into stories of intimacy, longing, love, and transformation.
Described by Billboard Argentina as an artist “on a sonic journey through jazz and R&B,” D’Soto has been praised for her ability to bridge genres with elegance and sincerity. Remezcla and Kindline Magazine have both spotlighted her as a rising artist to watch, noting how her music captures both vulnerability and unapologetic femininity. Her latest single, “Lay with u” (July 2025), has been hailed as “a hushed storm of intimacy and sultriness,” expanding her reputation as an artist who speaks to the soul while staying grounded in her Cuban roots.
D’Soto’s path began in Havana, where her early influences of Cuban song, bolero, and jazz merged with her later passion for contemporary R&B and pop. After moving to New York, she immersed herself in the city’s dynamic music scene, becoming a Grammy ballot contender and collaborating with internationally renowned artists such as Ana Tijoux, Yendry, Danay Suárez, Arturo O’Farrill, Antonio Sánchez, and Daymé Arocena. Her performances have taken her to stages like the Havana Jazz Festival, Winter Jazz Festival, Fillmore Jazz Fest, and even to features on NPR Live Sessions.
Looking ahead, Gina is preparing for one of her most defining chapters yet. On September 19, 2025, she will release her long-awaited debut EP And We Laughed and We Cried, a deeply personal project produced by Juan Diego Villalobos. The seven tracks, sung in English and Spanish, trace the raw landscape of relationships—from infatuation and sensuality to heartbreak and betrayal. It’s a project she describes as “a very beautiful and sincere album, born from the perspective of a woman navigating love in all its shades.”
But her vision doesn’t stop there. She is also working on a Spanish-language acoustic EP that strips back production in favor of bolero, and more intimate Latin sounds. At the same time, she is already sketching ideas for her first full-length bilingual album, expected in 2027, which will expand her experimentation across genres and narratives.
Her ambition is global. In 2026, she plans to tour across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, with performances in Europe and further concerts in her home country of Cuba. For Gina, connecting with Cuban audiences is essential: “I want people in Cuba to know my music and to feel represented in what I do,” she shares.
More than an emerging artist, Gina D’Soto is shaping a new wave of Latin alternative and R&B, with a voice that blends softness and power, intimacy and universality. Her artistry is not only about music—it’s about building bridges between cultures, identities, and emotions.
